Bonjour Davis Cup!

I love representing my country!!

I love representing my country!!

Hi Guys,

So the past few days have been a little hectic for me to say the least, after my match with Benoit my twitter account went crazy and I gained over 12000 new followers as well as a little blue tick, I was stoked about that as I have wanted one of those for a while. My website crashed too due to over 250,000 hits and whilst it was down another 250,000 hits occurred too, although that could have just been because people were talking about it being down but either way I was blown away.

Between interviews, chat show appearances and media requests I managed to make my mixed doubles debut with Arina Rodionova, it was good fun and a new experience for me, she kept telling me to smack the ball at the other girl but I didn’t have it in me to do it, perhaps when I’m a bit more hardened to the tour? We would have liked to have got the win but we played an experienced team and they pipped us to the post in both sets, overall it was a good, fun experience.

I have been selected by Pat Rafter to play in the Davis Cup too, myself, Lleyton, Thanasi, Chris and also another young gun Jordan Thompson have been selected to represent the green and gold of Australia against France in France on clay, I suspect Benoit’s fans will give me a bit of my own medicine after the reception he got on MCA against me but it will be fun and I’m prepared for every eventuality. It’s great to be on a team with Thanasi and Jordan, we’ve grown up together and to progress in to the men’s Davis Cup team is special, of course I’ve played before and these guys are making their debuts and I’m pleased to be able to share it with these guys.

So we are going to miss the ending of the Open, how good have Wawrinka and the great man Roger Federer been? I actually like the variety we have seen during the Australian summer due to slightly quicker courts, it adds to the game I think and we see more short court skill coming back in to play which can only be good for the spectators watching live and at home which I guess grows our game and improves our product? How good would a Federer Vs Wawrinka final be? I’d love to see that.

Any way guys, I have to finish my packing as we leave tonight for France and I cannot be late for the team meet or Pat will kill me, so enjoy the rest of the open and thanks so much for all your support, keep on cheering us over in France!
