Nick has been awarded the highest accolade in Australian Tennis after being awarded the Newcombe medal at the Tennis Australia Awards, which is a glitzy annual end of year award ceremony acknowledging the good and the great of Australian Tennis and their achievements and services to tennis.
Named after former world number one and three time Wimbledon champion John Newcombe, the main award is very much a highly thought of and well coveted prize amongst the very best in Australian Tennis. Nick who stunned his fellow guests by donning a purple suit to take home the best fashion sense award before the night had got started was nominated last year and was this year named the youngest ever winner of the Newk Medal “I am just so stoked to win this award, also a little surprised if truth be known as I thought Casey was nailed on to win it. We have both had great years and to share this platform with many of the greats of our game is very special.”
Nick would go on to thank all the members of his team and even had a touching mention for former coach Simon Rae, a rare glimpse in to the softer side of the man who has taken professional tennis by storm this year.
Nick will no head to the IPTL which kicks off in Manila later this week.
